    Toonami Discussion

Post by Kuu on Mon Aug 20, 2012 5:16 am

This thread is going to be PURELY for Toonami talk.

    Thoughts on
    • English dubs
    • Tom
    • Shows you'd like to see
    • Shows you want taken off
    • Anything else related to Toonami

Personally, I'm pretty happy about the airing of Eureka Seven. I've been wanting to watch it for quite some time, and I very much enjoyed the first episode. I really think Cowboy Bebop and Bleach should be replaced at this point, though. Unfortunately, they still don't have that large of a budget. I'm just hoping that they replace them as soon as they have the money to get replacements.

I'd be VERY happy if they could possibly get Panty & Stocking and bring back some Gundam. Gundam Wing, preferably.

Seeing the Panty & Stocking dub will be interesting to see, I never did finish that show anyways. As for Gundam, any will suffice for me, I just miss the entire series in general.

Agreed. Just about all Gundams are enjoyable. Wing was just the one I remember seeing most.

Dubs aren't bad for me, I can take a rest from reading when I need to, and I love the fact they kept Tom as their mascot. I've seen PaSwG but it'd be nice if they aired it along with Baccano!, Darker than black, Black butler, Vampire knight, I could go on. But they really should stop airing Bleach and Ghost in the shell, basically stay away from long airing shows and replace shows after they do a second or third airing of the series.

I don't believe they had ever previously aired 2nd Gig... Plus, I really enjoy GITS.

I enjoy Gits too, it's just they've had it on there for so long that it might be refreshing to take it off for a while.

Toonami was an awesome way for me to get introduced to some of the hottest anime out there in the late 90s and early 2000s (namely, DBZ, Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin). But then I started getting sick of the action genre and branching out into uncharted territory (namely, Slice of Life, Comedy and Romance series). Now... I am kind of glad that Toonami's back, if only for the nostalgia factor, but I'll probably never watch it again since the shit they air is stuff I outgrew almost a decade ago. Neutral

It would be nice, though, if they started airing new non-action shows more often. Of course, since the guys behind Toonami have essentially staked its reputation on the fact that it's an "action block", that's not likely to happen. Sad That's what kind of saddens me. They've invested so much time and money into making it all about action that they've forgotten about all the other anime fans who might otherwise tune in! I mean, if you can keep your action fan base (for the most part), and add at least a few million more non-action anime fans, why the hell not??

Besides, why does it have to be strictly an action block anyway? Whoever made that rule over at CN is an idiot! I mean, if you only got your anime from Toonami, you might be led to believe that it's all just fighting, robots, aliens and special powers! Laughing

Yeah, unfortunately, no one else on here seems to have any thoughts on Toonami... Either that or they just haven't noticed the thread.

It is right at the top, maybe people are too focused on improving their abridged series to focus on toonami Neutral

Toonami has always been meant for action anime. That's what we asked to be brought back, so that's what we got. Anything else would go against the entire point of Toonami.

Also, try not to refer to someone as an idiot, please.

    I was always a fan of the ambient music everytime they broadcasted a new season of an anime. I was always glued to the bumps I haven't had the time to check out the newer stuff now since I haven't had cable for 3 years the PAIN D;
